World Architecture Day! Describe Your Dream Home🏡

Note:  Apologies!  I'm playing catch up with this year's Blogtober.  This post should have been published yesterday, for day three.  Posting it now and hoping to be able to be caught up with todays post later today.🤗💖

Hi Honeys,
How are you today?  The rain is back and is trying, as it so often does, to turn me into a human pretzel.  Sending gentlest hugs to all fellow spoonies out there being badly affected by the change in the weather.  It's no fun at all to find out you've become a sort of human barometer.  Stay strong dear ones, it always passes and things will get better💖🤗

Well, we're on day three of Blogtober already and since today is apparently World Architecture Day, and to celebrate, I thought I'd have some fun and share my (imaginary) dream home with you😊

To celebrate world architecture day, I thought I'd have some fun and share my (imaginary) dream home...

Do you have an image in your mind honeys of what your dream home would look like?  I do.  I can close my eyes and see it so clearly, it's almost as if I'm standing in the street, looking at it.😍

Rosie's (imaginary) dream home

It would be a bungalow of course.  I have rheumatoid arthritis (and osteoarthritis in my spine) which have increasingly impacted on my mobility these past few years, so a bungalow would keep everything on the same level. Even the most precious dreams should be (a little) practical honeys, don't you think?  I mean, what if they come true?💖

There would be a small garden out front, with a low brick wall around it.  The gate into the garden is made of wrought iron, with a pattern of roses and leaves on it. Designed to match the garden bench Hubby bought for me (thank you sweetheart x)

The lovely, neat lawn would have my beautiful rose shrubs (of course) along the outer edge, forever in bloom.🌹 The large windows would have the prettiest shutters on them and would have flower beds bursting with colour under each window.

What's inside my dream home?

Let's go inside, shall we honeys?🔑

The entryway...

Stepping through the large, heavy wooden front door, we find ourselves in a small entryway.  There are jackets hanging on their pegs, including our furbaby Jade's jackets (she has a few💖) her lead and walkies accessories like her tennis balls.

Through the inner, glass doorway we find ourselves in a large, bright hallway.  The walls are lined in framed, favourite movie posters.  Doorways lead into my dream rooms....

Home office...

The first doorway, on the left side of the hallway, leads through to a small, bright room, in shades of calming blue.  A large, wooden desk, with two work stations runs along one wall (Hubby works from home at times and there's me and my wee blog😊)

The only other furniture in the room would be bookcases built into two of the walls and a large, cork noticeboard, full of upcoming projects and "don't forget" notes.  The large window floods the room with daylight and overlooks the front garden with a beautiful view of our roses.

Living room...

The next room along the left side of the hallway is our living room/lounge.  It's a large, very sunny room whose walls are painted in the palest, pastel green and there is a white marble fireplace on the main wall, with built-in shelves either side.

There is a racing green, leather chesterfield sofa, with matching chair, and an additional matching high backed chair, in the same leather.  There's a mahogany coffee table, with a matching side table by the sofa which has a pretty, brass and etched glass lamp on it.  Hubby's huge screen tv on the wall, completes the room. A tv in a lovely room.... yes, I know, but it is our dream home and we're huge movie fans honeys😊🎥📀

Guest room...

On the other side of the hallway, nearest the front door and facing the home office, is our guest room.  It's a pretty, welcoming room, painted in a pastel lemon.  There is a queen sized bed, beautifully made up in the softest lemon coloured bedding to match.  There is a beautiful, handmade quilt folded at the bottom of the bed and lots of throw cushions. (Again, I know, but it's my dream and I adore them😊)

Matching the bed, there are bedside tables, and a dressing table/vanity.  There are two doors in this room, one leads to a small en suite and the other to a small closet.

Master bedroom...

Next door to the guest room, facing the lounge (who doesn't want the shortest distance to travel to get to bed when you've fallen asleep, as usual, watching tv😊 When you're old and have arthritis you'll understand honeys x) The master bedroom is the larger of the two bedrooms and is painted in the palest, pastel lilac.  It too has two doors, one leading to an en suite and the other leading to a walk in wardrobe/closet. I've always wanted one of those.💖

The large, double window looks out over the gardens at the side of the house, with their pathway that leads to the back garden.  This too has rose shrubs so that the first thing I see each morning are our much loved roses.🌹

Other rooms leading off the hallway...

The kitchen...

One of the last remaining doorways, towards the end of the hallway would then take us to a large, dining kitchen.  Now, I haven't quite finished picturing the kitchen yet except to say it would have maple wooden cabinets, a large island in the middle to happily meal prep at (joy😍) and at least three important components😊...

Those kitchen extras...

  1. Without a doubt there would be a huge pantry (double joy😍) lined in shelves that I could happily spend days organising.💖
  2. There would be a large, sunny, half brick, half glass conservatory/sunroom the length of the back of the house.  This is where Hubby and I could spend afternoons and/or evenings sitting reading, chatting or listening to music and enjoying the garden (more joy😍) There would be two huge, comfy armchairs out there, a little table to put our cuppas on and a huge, soft, fluffy bed for our furbaby Jade too🤗💖 The back garden would be small but with a perfect lawn, and with our bee hotels, feeding stations for the birds and the little rose bench so I could keep them company sometimes.💖
  3. Last, but certainly not least, there would be an arch leading through to the world's prettiest, most perfect laundry room (joy times infinity😍💞) I love laundry honeys, love, love, love it💝

Back out into the hallway then, where there would be a doorway to a pastel blue bathroom which would include a clawfoot bath, a large separate shower and enough storage to coral my far-too-big collection of soaps, shampoos and other girly stuff💗.

This leaves us, in the hallway, faced with a pretty and polished, wooden staircase leading upstairs to the converted loft...

Loft/attic space...

We would, of course, have had the loft/attic converted into a large, open  room, lined from floor to roof with bookcases. The shelves would fill every single nook, not an inch of space wasted.  Filling all of these shelves would be so, so many books.  Much loved old favourites would share shelf space with constantly added new tomes waiting to become new favourites.📚📖

Interspaced between the books on the shelves would be random treasures collected throughout the years. Framed photos, the topper from our wedding cake and countless other tiny treasures all waiting to be glimpsed unexpectedly and to make us smile💖

Too-many-to-count dragons (Hubby's - he's been a huge fan of The Pern novels by Anne McCaffrey since long before we met) and angels (those are mine, collected over many years👼) peep out around books and other trinkets on the shelves.

There is a small sofa, carefully placed under one of the huge skylights that would flood the room with daylight and at night we could sit in the dark and watch the stars overhead.🌃 On rainy days I'd sit under one of the skylights, with the window open just a little, and I'd listen to the sound of the rainfall...

There you have it honeys.  My dream home.  Not a mansion or a palace, just a dream.  Not that I'm not grateful for all we have, I truly am, but what's life without a little dream?

Over to you dear ones.  What would your dream home look like?  Can you see it as clearly as I can see mine?  Thank you for dropping by and keeping me company honeys, wishing you the best week, hugs always xx

Be you honeys, you matter, you're needed, hugs x
