Hi honeys
September has started to show her colours, the leaves now starting to fall from the trees are changing shades and our furbaby Jade is having a great time playing with them and trying to catch them :) She adores leaves, loves them. Most of all she loves to watch her daddy raking them up into a pile and then run through it :) Jade running through leave piles that is, not her Daddy :) The best thing is that Hubby loves her so much he doesn't even complain :)
Time for Day 21 of the Blogtember challenge organized by the lovely Bailey Jean of Brave Blog Love.
Today's prompt is: A favourite quote/expression and how it has impacted you. I have to admit that I had a problem with this prompt honeys, I simply couldn't only choose one quote! I tried, honestly I did :) So I choose my absolute favourites and thought because they are all beautiful I'd let them share the roses from our tiny garden.
If I really was only allowed one quote, just one, it would always be this one....
This quote will always mean a great deal to me because it gave me strength when I most needed it during a very dark time in my life. It reminds me that no matter what hurdles life places in front of us, or how scary life seems, we can get through it. Not by rushing at whatever is in our path, but by doing what we can to achieve our goal in that moment. Then just keep trying, doing our best.
I adore the writing & art of the brilliant Mary Anne Radmacher honeys, her beautiful work makes me smile and has been known to make me cry too. If you'd like to find out more about Ms Radmacher's work you can find her wonderful site here. You can also find her on Facebook here and also on Twitter too. She is such an inspiration and is so talented.
My next quote is from the fabulous, the brilliant, the amazing Oscar Wilde.
These are the final lines from the most beautiful poem, which I'm sure you'll have seen many times on Pinterest, called "The Old Astronomer to His Pupil" by Sarah Williams. You can read this hauntingly beautiful work here honeys.
Another quote from dear Oscar. I so adore this quote, it was the signature in my emails for so long. It is a reminder that we are all human but that we have the capacity to dream. I love it.
For my last much loved quote honeys, I choose these beautiful words....
Isn't it wonderful honeys? We all of us face challenges in our lives and we can either allow these challenges to overwhelm us or we can learn to cope. Giving up should never be an option honeys. We're all worth so much more than that. I'll leave you with the best piece of advice I've ever been given.
Many years ago, when my arthritis was new to me, one of my wrists was very swollen, angry, red and very painful. It burned. I know now that this is inflammation but back then this was all knew to me. I remember sitting in my Gramma's living room crying till I sobbed. Bless her she went through to her kitchen and let the cold water run on a face cloth from the bathroom until it was soaked & she then wrung it out, brought it through and after much protest from me, because it was so painful I couldn't bear the idea of anything touching me, well my sweet Gramma gently wrapped the very cold damp face cloth around my wrist and it so helped! Gramma then went back through to her kitchen and made tea for us both and brought it through. She sat on the sofa, facing me across the coffee table and told me that when the pain was at its worst, I could do two things. One was sit and cry, and how was that working out for me? The other thing I could do was to get up, put a duster in my good hand and take my mind off it. Gramma said if I ever "sit down to it" (give up) that I'd never get up again.
God bless my dear sweet Gramma for that advice because it's served me well over the years, it's helped me cope and given me strength when I've badly needed it. It doesn't just apply to health problems though honeys. For most of life's challenges we just have to try to be a little stronger for a little longer. Till next time dear ones, hugs always xx

On the bookcase by the bed in our master bedroom there is a large, much loved, much read copy of the complete works of Oscar Wilde. I've spent many, many happy hours with this book. The above quote is a reminder that even saints have lived very human lives, have made mistakes, but that there is always redemption for those who seek it.
From the chilling The Picture of Dorian Gray to the charming wit of The Importance of Being Earnest through to his final work, De Profundis (meaning from the depths) and everything in between, I so adore the work of dear Oscar. Have you ever read the tale of the Happy Prince honeys? It is a heart breakingly beautiful story of friendship, faith, love and kindness. You can read this uplifting tale here. I've read it so many times over the years and it always makes me cry.

DeleteI adore those quotes! I especially love the one about how courage does not always roar. Sometimes it's a small voice persevering. Your roses are beautiful. And what a precious story and memory of your Grandma. She sounds both nurturing and strong.
