It's month four of The Picture Perfect Project for 2016! I'm so excited and I can't wait to share this month's pictures with you :)
Last weekend at work I was having a good old moan about the lack of sunshine when a lovely elderly lady tutted at me and reminded me of the oft quoted Thomas Tusser who famously wrote:
"Sweet April showers
Do spring May flowers."
- Thomas Tusser, A Hundred Good Points of Husbandry, 1557
Of course this very sweet lady, and Mr Tusser, were quite right!Do spring May flowers."

As fed up as I am (and I so am honeys!) of the almost constantly grey skies and miserable rainy weather, I can't deny what's happening in our little garden :)
For this month's post in the Picture Perfect Project I thought I'd share a side by side comparison of our much loved roses, showing how they've grown in just one short month...
We'll start with the rose bush in our front garden, planted in memory of my dear Gramma, and which last year was simply stunning. You can see Gramma's roses here and here (and there are printables too :)
I have such high hopes for these beautiful pink roses for this summer because they're certainly off to a great start. Tiny buds are beginning to appear and look at those leaves...
Such changes in only four short weeks :)
Do you remember honeys that we planted a new rose bush recently in memory of my sweet Mother in Law? We went shopping for Mum's roses on Mother's Day and planted her rose bush, alongside Gramma's, in our tiny front garden the following Sunday.
Shall we have a look and see how this tiny rose bush has changed in the four weeks since then...
I can't wait to see Mum's roses, even though I know it will take a while :)
Last, but definitely not least honeys are the peonies in our back garden. They've lived in their planter for so many years now and every year they appear and are more beautiful then ever. This year they're off to a great start and yes it's probably all because of the wonderful Scottish rain :)
Can you believe it? Last month only a tiny shoot desperately trying to find the sunshine (aren't we all hee hee :) and only a few weeks later so many beautiful peony roses in the making. In no time at all they'll look just as fabulous as they did last Summer...
So maybe all this rain isn't so bad after all :) It's obviously helping the roses and I do have a very beautiful polka dot umbrella (a gift from a dear friend at work thank you Sarah sweetheart x) which makes me smile every time I use it (it's fabulous and I adore polka dots :)
The Picture perfect Project is such fun and I can't wait to see what everyone else has posted this month. Thank you for visiting today and thank you too, to the link up's hosts they're all such lovely friendly ladies. Beautiful! So neat to watch things grow, and I'm terrible at gardening.
ReplyDeleteHi Courtney :) Thank you for visiting x I so wish I was born with green fingers! Alas I think our garden grows in spite of me rather than because of me :) I do adore watching everything grow though. I can't wait to see Mum's roses grow and to see how Gramma's roses look this year after they bloomed so fabulously last summer. I'm loving the Picture Perfect Project, thank you so much for letting me join in. I hope you're having a wonderful week so far, sending heaps of hugs xx
DeleteLove this! Can't wait to see how the roses grow!
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, thank you so much for popping over to visit and for your lovely comment x I'm ridiculously excited to see how the roses grow this year. Gramma's roses were so beautiful last year and I know Mum's rose shrub has only just been planted but it's showing little shoots already and I just know with the amount of rain we've been having it'll grow in no time. Even if we don't have roses this year it'll be worth the wait till they do arrive. Thank you for letting me be part of the Picture perfect project, it's such fun and if you don't mind I'll keep posting updates on the garden through the Summer :) Hugs always xx
DeleteMy husband's gramma is the family rose grower, her blooms get huge! They will be a wonderful sight come summer.
ReplyDeleteHi Whitney, thank you so much for visiting x My dear Gramma was the rose grower in our family too. She adored her garden, the peonies in our back garden are hers and still bloom beautifully every year. The Picture perfect Project is such fun, thank you for letting me be part of it x I hope you're having a great week so far, sending heaps of hugs xx
DeleteBeautiful. Love.
