Future Learn: How To Study & Learn Online For Free!

Disclaimer:  I haven't been paid to promote Future Learn, Springest or any other company, just sharing something fun I found in the hope that you'll think it's fun too x

Hi Honeys
I hope you're having a wonderful week and enjoying the gorgeous sunshine outside.  I had a very rare weekend off work and I spent a whole lot of it doing laundry yaaaayy 😊  I love doing laundry beyond all reason. I love every little thing about it.

I love the sorting, the actual washing, made easier these days by having automatic washing machines but remember I got married in a time when having a twin tub machine was a luxury 😊  I even love the ironing! Even though I can't stand very long these days I've learned thanks to a dear friend (thank you Francine x) that I can just sit at my ironing board and iron away happily 😊

You can see then why I'm grinning my head off while writing this honeys.  I don't have work today but I do have the most glorious sunny day with beautiful blue skies, lots (more) laundry to do and my little laundry assistant, our furbaby Jade, to keep me company while I'm pegging it outside. I am awash with joy. 😊

Later today I'm hoping to sit down and continue with the coursework on the History of Royal Fashion online course I began last Monday.  I'm getting ahead of myself.  I'm so excited by this and can't wait to share with you.  Do you, like me, love to read and learn honeys?

How to study and learn online for free!

What if I were to tell you that I discovered a way that you could sign up and study online with Colleges, Universities and even to study career related courses with professional providers to help you progress at work?

What if I then told you you could learn everything from languages, to digital skills, including coding and online security, to history, to a first aid course, there are too many courses to list!  Now what if I were to tell you that you can study many of these courses for free?  The courses are open to everyone so international students can study too.  It doesn't matter where you are in the world, if you have access to the web you can study and even earn certificates when you pass the courses you choose. Too good to be true?

I thought so too honeys but as it turns out it is true!  Why not grab a cuppa and I'll show you how it's possible.  Meet me back here with a cuppa and maybe a cookie 😊

Back again?  Cool 😊 Well honeys, it all began a few weeks ago when I was sitting waiting for the washing cycle to finish and I was scrolling through twitter and noticed a tweet from the lovely Dr Lucy Worsley, author, chief Curator of Historic Royal Palaces and maker of fabulous documentaries that bring the past to life.

Dr Lucy mentioned an upcoming course studying the History of Royal Fashion from the days of the Tudors though to our present day Windsors.

I am a history nut dear ones and what girl doesn't love looking at beautiful fashions so as you can imagine I was curious.  I clicked on the link in Dr Lucy's tweet and a whole new world opened up!

The course recommended by Dr Lucy, which I'm currently working on (and thoroughly enjoying) is being run by the University of Glasgow and Historic Royal Palaces over a five week period, working for approximately 4 hours per week (although students work at their own pace) and looks like this...

The History of Royal Fashion course by the University of Glasgow and Future Learn.

Such fun!

In order to pass the time until this wonderful course examining the beautiful clothing worn by British Royalty I thought I'd dip my toe into the waters of learning by choosing another course to try.  It's been a long time since I was at University and while I love to read I felt as if my confidence in my studying ability might benefit from a little boost.

After scrolling through all of the wonderful courses available, and there are so many honeys, I choose a course on Digital Skills: Retail.  You might have read on this blog that I work in retail and indeed that's the reason I choose the course but this course is so, so much more than the future of shopping and since we are all of us shoppers, I would absolutely recommend it.

Now, while studying with Future Learn, who supply the platform for all of these wonderful courses, is indeed free (thank you Future Learn) it is also possible to upgrade many of the courses.  The course I'm presently studying had an upgrade available and so I signed up for it, it cost me £42.

The Digital Skills:Retail course I studied though had a free upgrade thanks to the courses providers Accenture (thank you Accenture, you rock!) which allows...

The certificate I received at the end of the Digital Skills Retail course is lovely, so much so I'm going to print it and add it to my others from College.  The certificate is supplied in a PDF format and a link is supplied which can be added to a digital CV or to a professional page such as Linkedin.

OK, I've waffled about how much I adore Future Learn enough!  Let's have some links so you can adore them too honeys 😊
