Hi Honeys,
How are you today? Our furbaby Jade and I did some laundry this afternoon, got it all pegged out and when I went out with my next wash, a gorgeous sherpa throw Jade got for Christmas from her Auntie Miriam (She still adores it honey, thank you x) I felt the rain on my face!
So, that was it, luckily the bedding and towels were all dry but I couldn't help thinking it must be wonderful not to live in the rainiest place in the world ๐
In yesterdays post I shared a tiny kitchen organising project I'd planned using some items from the Sunnersta range from Ikea. I recently discovered that Ikea will now deliver smaller items!
I knew our nearest Ikea would deliver large, bulky items, having previously ordered a kitchen cabinet and full size worktop from them, but the fact that I can hop online and order organising project supplies and have them brought to the front door is a real game changer!
I haven't been to my favourite store in around two years I think honeys, we don't own a car and it's just too far away, so home delivery is just the best news! ๐
So, having discovered this wonderful news, of course I wanted to try their home delivery service, so I went to their website and placed an order...
In yesterdays post I promised I'd share the contents of this first order and I'll do that today, so, why not grab a cuppa and maybe a cookie or two and meet me back here in a few minutes honeys?
Back again? Do you have your cuppa? Cool, me too ๐ Let's take a look shall we?
When I placed our order at the Ikea website it told me the delivery date, no exact time just a day but a little before two pm a very large box was delivered by a very smiley young lad...
I opened the box to find lots and lots of paper packaging...
The packaging was carefully lifted out of the box to reveal the ordered items underneath...
The three large, well wrapped items are actually glass dishes so thank you Ikea for taking such good care of them and making sure they reached us in perfect condition ๐
The packaging materials were all removed and placed back into the now empty-of-items box and all placed to one side. These are the items I'd ordered honeys. Let's take a closer look...
1. Pluring - a set of three (two jacket length and one dress length) clothes covers. We have lots of these in the wardrobes upstairs already and since I wanted to try out the online delivery I popped a pack into our basket. They're always useful to have on hand.
2. Two glass (600 ml) food containers Ikea +365 with lids - Hubby and I are making a real effort to live healthier, he takes his lunch to work every day and I really want to get rid of the plastic tubs he takes his lunch to work in. I saw these and thought I'd try them. More about them shortly honeys.
3. One glass rectangular (1 litre) food container Ikea +365 with lid - Again, I have one similar to this rectangular dish and I wanted to compare it to this version. We're getting rid of the plastic honeys ๐
4. One pack of Sunnersta S hooks (5 to a pack) - I still miss the Bygel range which I just adored, so good for organising projects, but Sunnersta has grown on me. It's my new Bygel ๐
5. Two Sunnersta containers - I knew I needed at least one for the organising project in the kitchen, along with a couple of the S hooks and a rail but I ordered more because they are so useful and good to have on hand. These little containers look so good on the Sunnersta rail honeys. They look so good we swapped the Bygel rail and containers in our bathroom for new Sunnersta ones.
6. Two Sunnersta rails - 60 cm (24 inches) in length. I'm loving this range so much I bought spares knowing full well they'll be used in a future organising project somewhere. Sunnersta is a hit in this house honeys ๐
7. One Gurli cushion cover (50cm x 50cm) in golden yellow
8. One Gurli cushion cover (50cm x 50cm) in red
So, that's:
1. Pluring covers: £2.00
2. 2 x square glass dishes & lids at £2.65 each = £5.30
3. 1 x glass rectangular dish & lid at £3.00
4. 1 pkt Sunnersta hooks (5 per pack) at £0.50
5. 2 x Sunnersta containers at £0.50 each = £1.00
6. 2 x Sunnersta rails at £1.50 each = £3.00
7. 1 x Gurli cushion cover at £1.75
8. 1 x Gurli cushion cover at £1.75
plus: £3.85 delivery charge
Total cost of order: £22. 25
In my opinion honeys, given how carefully everything was packaged, the speed of delivery (and delivering on the day they said they would) I think £3.85 delivery was a bargain.
Now, back to those glass dishes. I have bought a couple of these from other stores and these dishes are such great quality in comparison.
They're made from a very heavy, thick glass and are supplied with very secure "click and lock" lids...
Hubby likes them, I love them because I can dump the plastic and at £2.65 and £3 each, they're a bargain. The large, very similar, 1 litre, rectangular glass dish we already have in the kitchen was £6! So, yes, I will be ordering more of these fab dishes and Hubby will be taking his lunch to work in glass ๐
So, what do you think honeys? Have you tried home delivery from Ikea yet? If so, what was your experience like? Have you tried these glass dishes yet?
Has anyone tried meal prepping yet? It's something I've seen on Pinterest and it seems interesting. Last Sunday I put some frozen fruit (blueberries and mixed berries) into little glass jars and topped with natural Greek yogurt, then sealed the jars and popped them into the fridge so that Hubby could take a jar with him each day as part of his lunch.
He seemed really happy with them, bless him and it was such a success, I'm going to make double this weekend so that there is a little jar for me too ๐ Jade also has a little natural yogurt each day too, no fruit or anything added though, the sugar (or other possible additives in store bought flavoured yogurt) wouldn't be good for her. So our baby just has a little natural yogurt and she does love it, bless her ๐
Till next time dear ones, smile lots and hug even more, hugs always x
