Yesterday was a "meh" kind of day, after the glorious sunshine of the previous few days it started to rain and I needed a smile or two. So, since a smile is always better when it's shared, I thought I'd post an update on our pretty roses. It would make me so happy if it made you smile too :)

I know it's not at all a romantic quote but it's from one of my favourite crime novels. This book saw the first meeting of Lord Peter Wimsey & Harriet Vane. Harriet is on trial for the murder of her lover, all looks lost, she is facing conviction and death by hanging but taking a keen interest in the trial is Lord Peter, amateur sleuth, who falls in love with her at first sight & resolves to prove her innocence.
There are no words for how much I adore the writing of Dorothy L Sayers, with the Lord Peter stories being my absolute favourite. BBC filmed three of the Lord Peter & Harriet stories, Strong Poison, Have his Carcase & Gaudy Night, and if you ever have the opportunity to see them, I absolutely recommend them. They are beyond fabulous!
