How are you today? It's day 17 of Blogtober, we're midway through October and that means....
Do you have traditions dear ones? We do, lots of them 😊 For instance, a visit to Ikea always means a new soft toy for our furbaby Jade, especially when it's her birthday 💖
As the days get shorter, and the nights get darker, I do more baking (fruit crumbles are a favourite, I'm making a pear crumble this weekend, and anything with cinnamon, like these delicious Scottish apple turnovers... yum!)
One of our favourite traditions though, at this time of year, is to sit down to watch It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, also known as the Halloween episode of Peanuts 💗
This little dvd comes out of our collection every year. At other times too off course, Christmas isn't Christmas if we don't watch A Charlie Brown Christmas 🎄🎅
In October though, we first watch It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and then we watch the other five episodes too, usually an episode each evening, or we might even binge watch the whole disc while making up treat bags for visiting trick or treaters 😊
There have been so many losses this year honeys. People have lost loved ones, lost their jobs, everyone is frightened of this terrible virus, not knowing who to believe in the media. Some reports are enough to frighten spoonies like me into never leaving our home again and others are saying it will all blow over in months.
I think we need our traditions. We need to hold onto the familiar, until the world around us finds it's new normal, whatever that will be. This year will be the first in over thirty years that we won't have spent hours making up little treat bags for Halloween. No trick or treating this year honeys, and I can't bear it.
I love Halloween even more than Christmas, I really do. We're in an area with a high infection rate apparently and one of my medications flattens my immune system. There will be next year though, we have to believe that everything will get back to normal soon. I'm praying that it does and that no more loved ones are lost.
