I'm playing catch up today, so I thought I'd share a little glimpse of our preparations this past few days for Halloween...
I do love Halloween honeys, and one of my favourite bits every year is making up lots of treat bags for visiting vampires, superheroes, witches & wizards 😊 Hubby & I make a great team every year 💖
We usually fill containers with each of the different treats or toys (such as balloons and spiders and glow in the dark skeletons) to be included in the treat bags and we set to making up little bags of (hopefully) holiday smiles 😊
This year, as you can see in the image above, we had (from the top left hand corner) 1. marshmallow biscuit treats, 2. a cauldron full of lolly pops, chews, Addams Family sherbet packs and other little packs of sweets, 3. more packs of those little marshmallow biscuit treats, 4. two boxes of mini bottles of Halloween bubbles, 5. sandwich bags to use as treat bags, 6. a container full of Halloween toys and balloons, 7. mallow "wands" 8. mini bags of Skittles, 9. mini bags of Haribo sweets and 10. boxes of Casper the Friendly Ghost candy sticks.
Hubby and I set about making up treat bags, adding one of everything in the containers until we ran out of treats. It's always such fun making up these little bags and I always hope they make our tiny visitors as happy as they make us creating them.
When we eventually ran out of treats we had, as we do most years, around fifty treat bags...
This left us the Halloween decor for our little entryway by the front door to deal with. You might remember we'd made a start on it already..
I do like these battery powered candles now available everywhere. I wish the photos could capture the way they flicker, just like real candles.
The two tall black candles are from Poundland and were only £1 each (well, duh Rosie lol) although I've since seen the exact same ones in Home Bargains for only 69p each. The little pumpkin and black cat (wearing the cutest hat) and also the light up glass skull are all also from Poundland too.
I placed a little battery powered tealight inside the ceramic pumkin and black cat and as you can see they are quite bright, as if the glass skull...
I added two classic horror movie bobble heads we've had for ages on the top of the tiny Ikea Trones unit too and also added a Halloween themed lave table cover. The pattern on the lace table cover is of a cob web, with little spiders, as well as two skulls.
I took a photo with my flash switched on so you can see them...
I also added a couple of "beware...." wooden signs, and a round plastic serving tray, under the trones unit too. We still have quite a few decor pieces to add before it's finished but I think it's looking pretty cool so far honeys 😊
Among my favourite new decor items added this year are the glass skull from Poundland. It's made from a heavy glass and the on/off switch is placed in the top so it's easy to switch on and off (which is great for people like me who have arthritic hands) and as you can see from the photos above it's very bright.
I'm also loving the adorable little ceramic black cat in the cute Halloween hat 💖 He's smiling and doesn't look at all scary 😊 He also makes a perfect pair with the ceramic pumpkin we bought last year and they both look lovely when lit up by a (very safe) battery powered tea light candle.
Our tiny entryway (which you can see here) always has a doormat just inside the front door and for Halloween we're changing it for this one...
It's silly and made me smile so, for Halloween, it can replace our usual little door mat 👻
Do you decorate for Halloween honeys? It's becoming quite popular around us, I noticed our neighbour across the street has decorated their windows and the outside of their house.
Maybe next year, for this year though we'll add the rest of our little decor pieces to the entryway, fill a large plastic cauldron with the treat bags and hope it all makes our visiting trick or treaters smile 🎃
