Hi Honeys
The rain is literally beating against the windows as I write this. The sky is so dark outside and the rain so heavy that our little garden is eerily empty. I'm missing what has become my daily ritual of standing at the kitchen window watching our tiny garden guests eating their food.
I have to go out in this torrential rain soon to go to work unfortunately. According to the weather reports this rain is with us for most of the day too. It might be good for the gardens, all of this lovely Scottish rainfall, but not so great if you have to be out in it. Or for our much loved little garden visitors who'll be hiding somewhere safe hopefully keeping out of this frightful downpour.
I need a smile before heading out to work honeys. Something to help me get through my long, tiring shift so I went looking through my photos, taken this week, and sure enough... smiles 😄
It's a true saying that sometimes the brightest smiles can be found on your own doorstep, all we have to do is look for them 😊
Since there are a few photos in this post why not grab a cuppa (and maybe a cookie too) and meet me back here in a few minutes and maybe we can share some smiles with our cuppa 😘
Welcome back honeys 😊 Do you have your cuppa? Cool, me too ☕ 😊
You know that old saying I mentioned about the brightest smiles being on our own doorsteps? Outside our back door we have lavender and usually buzzing around that lavender there will be at least one or two little buzzy bees, busy at their work 🐝
Yesterday lunchtime, I opened the back door to go peg out some laundry only to see two tiny visitors on the lavender. "Wait there!" I said to them... what? You don't talk to your garden guests? I always do 😃
I always wish our tiny birds a good morning when I'm putting their food out for them and they tweet happily in reply 😊 Now that is a perfect start to the day and a smile that can last all day long 😍
Well, back into the house I went to grab my camera but by the time I got back to the back door only this little guest was still there. Maybe her friend was camera shy 😊 Well I snapped a couple of photos (this one being the clearest) said thank you and wished her a good day 🐝💗
It doesn't matter how many times I see busy little bees happily buzzing around our garden they always makes me smile 😊 Did you spot her in the photo honeys?
There she is 🐝😊 These tireless, beautiful little creatures are so, so important to our world honeys and they need our help quite badly right now. You don't even need a garden, containers on a balcony or verandah or window boxes can all be very welcome to our buzzy friends 🐝
Another happy smile this week has been re-potting our window herbs 😃 Sometime around Easter, I'd spotted the prettiest little herb set...
The little ceramic pots, with their tiny tray were so pretty, and since Hubby and I are trying to live a healthier life, meal prepping and healthier eating being central to that, I brought them home and set them up on the kitchen window...
They did start to grow but much slower than I thought, I'm thinking it might be something to do with the planting agent supplied with the kit? Maybe not but I hadn't seen a compost or soil that looked like the little pack supplied.
Well, they continued to grow but then started to look as if they were "wilting" almost. I didn't understand at first because I was diligently watering them, and careful not to water them too much. They were sitting on the window in the kitchen where they got the best of the sun too.
I decided to re-pot them in fresh compost to see if that would help and that's when I found the roots had run out of room to grow in those pretty little ceramic post! They're now re-potted into larger pots, in good quality compost and best of all the containers are see through so I'll know if we have a "roots need more room" situation developing again 😊 When I watered them this morning they're already looking much brighter so I'm hopeful honeys 💗
Last, but certainly not least are these beauties...
Yesterday was harvest time for our tiny apple tree in the back garden and goodness have we been blessed this year!
These beautiful apples will keep me baking for months 💗
I'm a great believer in counting my blessings and I'm so grateful for all of the blessings in my life. Among those blessings are you dear ones, thank you for being here and for keeping me company. I hope you've had a smile filled week too and that you're looking forward to a wonderful, fun filled weekend 💖
Till next time honeys, smile lots and hug even more, huggles always xx
